A Virtual Santa Experience in 2020

Due to COVID a lot of things have been off this year, but one thing that makes me cheerful is thinking of the holiday season. Every holiday season is filled with family traditions, one is taking your kids to meet Santa. But dragging your kids to the mall, standing in a crowded line, and putting your kid on Santa’s lap where 10,000 diapers and tears have been prior, now that seems a bit off this year. How LYFETYMES Can Help You Pull Off the Ultimate Thanksgiving Recipe Swap

With Thanksgiving being right around the corner and CDC releasing Thanksgiving COVID guidelines we wanted to help people around the world make early preparations for one of America’s favorite holidays - Thanksgiving. The holidays are supposed to be a time to gather with family and friends, eat delicious home-cooked dishes, and make memories. Due to COVID-19, the holidays will look a lot different.

Family being advised to not fly in for the holidays means you might not be able to hang out with your favorite aunts and cousins that would normally fly in for the holidays, or even worse you won’t be eating your aunt Linda’s famous Thanksgiving dish that you’ve been looking forward to all year. To help recreate those yummy memories  LYFETYMES came up with a recipe swap Thanksgiving Party to make sure you get the famous green bean casserole you’ve been dreaming of since you devoured it last Thanksgiving.

Whether your family hosts a potluck style Thanksgiving dinner or you designate one person to cook for the day this recipe swap idea works for everyone. Decide who is going to participate in the swap and head over to LYFETYMES.com to create your Thanksgiving Recipe Swap Challange and easily share recipes.

Ideas to Decorate Your Front Porch for Fall

Ideas To Decorate Your Front Porch for Fall

Decorating my home according to the season or holiday is one of my favorite past times. Nothing puts me in the holiday spirit like adding some good decor to my home. We gathered some easy and affordable ideas to decorate your front porch for fall.

The Supplies you will need:

  • Pumpkin candy baskets (3 to create 1 planter)

  • 1 can of Spray paint

  • Twine

  • Hot glue gun

  • Flowers of choice

Because of COVID-19 your kids might not be able to use their Halloween candy baskets so let’s put them to use. If you don’t have any from previous Halloweens I found this pack of 10 on Amazon. Grab some spray paint. I went with a white matte spray paint for my pumpkin planter.  Remove all the handles from the baskets and begin spray painting. Once they are done drying, stack them on top of each other and hot glue the bottoms to the top of the basket - you may want to add some rocks or dirt for weight. Wrap the twine a couple of times around the spaces you hot glued together. And for the final touch add some fall colored florals inside the top basket. To complete the look add an assortment of pumpkins to your porch, a cute fall wreath, and corn husk stalks by the door.

We partnered with RedFin and other experts on their latest blog post to bring you 15 Ideas to Decorate your Front Porch .

Work Outwards

Fill the space around the door and work outward from there to the steps as you’re decorating the front porch. This gives it an eye-catching illusion of looking like you decorated more than you did. Start with a bright autumn wreath or garland on the door and add some taller accents around the door frame, like a fall sign or colorful garland. Add beautiful fall flowers in a pot at the base and then add lanterns or pumpkins of different sizes, colors, and shapes trailing down the steps. You can add Halloween decorations and simply take out those spooky pieces on November 1st.

Add Some Plaid

I don’t know about you, but when I think of fall I think of my favorite long sleeve cozy plaid shirts of vests. Not only do I love adding plaid to my wardrobe I also love adding it to my home. Whether it is plaid pillows, throw blankets, or rugs you can instantly get ready for fall with the help of a plaid pattern. Get some plaid pumpkins or doormat and add it to your front porch decor.

5 Amazing Ways You Can Celebrate Halloween Safely in 2020 (Copy)

5 Amazing Ways You Can Celebrate Halloween Safely in 2020

Celebrating Halloween in 2020

One of the most anticipated fall favorites, Halloween is right around the corner! This usually kicks off the entire Holiday season for the rest of the year! Who doesn't love dressing the kids up and taking them trick or treating then sneaking into their Halloween baskets later to steal some candy? We all have adapted this year through COVID-19 celebrating Holidays and Milestones that have come and gone, from Easter to Graduations. Halloween this year will be no different. Every parent will ask themselves “What should we do on Halloween”?

  • Do I take them trick or treating?

  • Will people even give out Candy?

  • Do I even want their Candy?

  • What if I’m actually wearing a Halloween mask?

  • Should I just dump a 10 Pound Bag of Hershey Bars in the middle of the living room and let this thing play out like the Hunger Games?

Hmmm. That's tempting...

The good news is you have plenty of time to make Halloween fun and memorable. If you are looking for some safer ways to celebrate Halloween this year, here are some fun ideas to get your Monster Mash on safely.

Haunted Halloween Hunt (0-5)

Think Easter but for Halloween celebrations. Get parents of younger children and turn your house or backyard into a Fun-O-Ween. This is for parents who want to dress their children up but are not exactly comfortable sending their littles up to the door of people in quarantined houses for candy. They are probably not too upset or even notice not going door to door but you still want to celebrate that tradition and make some fun memories.

Make it a big day! You can get these amazing Halloween Eggs to hide small treats in as well as or if you're planning the hunt for when the sun goes down get some glow in the dark eggs! Before the hunt, do a fun activity like have them decorate their pumpkins or candy hunt bags. Use markers, glitter, and stickers to keep it a low-stress mess.  Dress your little ones up in their costumes. Take your family pictures for Instagram and let them hunt for treasures hidden in the backyard.

Host a Spooky Halloween Scavenger Hunt

This is great for the 6+ group, but scavenger hunts are fun for everyone. Here are our top tips to pull off the ultimate Halloween scavenger hunt.

    What You Will Need

The most important thing to pulling off a Halloween scavenger hunt is to have everything planned and ready ahead of time. The last thing you want to do is be scrambling for things to hide. Think of clues, prizes, and hiding places. Include a couple of your neighbors in on the fun.

    The Clues

First things first, let's start with the clues. Coming up with clues is my favorite part of a scavenger hunt. The clues are what make the hunt thrilling. You can get creative and come up with your own clues or Pickle Bums has some fun ones you can download and print for free. Be mindful that your clues have to coordinate with your hiding spot, so make sure you know where you will be hiding clues and prizes.

    The Prizes

It’s not a treasure hunt if there’s no treasure! The prizes can vary depending on the ages of the hunters. If you decided to go with small Halloween themed prizes that were easy to hide with each clue and also fun to find. If your kids won’t be going trick or treating this year you can grab some sweets for them to find, but if you want to avoid giving them sugar check out these fun Halloween toys.  I found these neat treasure chest boxes for the larger prizes that you can reuse.

    Good Hiding Spots

Whether you are planning a scavenger hunt for the whole neighborhood or a quick indoor “skeleton race”  around the house it’s important to plan a good hiding spot. This is where creativity comes in.

To help plan this ultimate Halloween hunt in the simplest way possible using the LYFETYMES app. Created an event like the “Spooky Halloween Hunt” and sent it out to your neighbors that wanted to participate. Neighbors will RSVP to the scavenger hunt and leave comments saying where they were hiding the prizes and add a picture of what prize they were going to be hiding. This is really helpful for creating clues.

    Halloween Trunk Party!

We’ve all seen the drive-by parade celebrations, so why not have a drive-by trunk-or-treat? This is a great idea to keep kids from gathering around your front door. To set up, park your car in your driveway and add some fun Halloween decor like some spiders and webs to your car or go nuts by decorating your porch, or turn your front yard in Mini Haunted House or set up some balloon displays in the front yard. Set up a lawn chair and enjoy all the costumes that come by and can say hi and wave from a socially safe place. You can also get your neighbors in on the fun and coordinate a neighborhood Drive-by trick or treat and a specific time.

    NEIGHBORHOOD “Spooky Hollow” Drive-Thru

This works great with a community type Neighborhood. You “drive Thru” a Halloween experience. Each family that wants to participate contributes a certain amount - for easy calculation $10 a kid. A few neighborhood rock stars take the reigns.

They select up a pickup station at the designated park or location and the parents drive, bike, walk kids to the location. They will decorate ‘drive-thru experience (could be a rented tent, front yard decorated), organize and pack the “ghoul bags”, play some music, keep things safe and organized.

    Neighborhood Driveway Halloween Table Contest

This is a great option to ditch the communal candy bowels and get the family in on some competitive action to show some Halloween spirit! Every house participating sets up a decorated themed table where trick or treaters can have some socially distanced fun, pick up a candy bag while keeping the contact to a minimum. Designate a neighborhood judging team that gives out an annual traveling trophy to the family with the best table!

When it Is your turn, tell the group two things about yourself that are true and one untrue thing (your lie). Be sure not to say both of your truths first and then the lie because that makes it easier to guess. Mix the order up each time it is your turn. Everyone in the group has an opportunity to try to guess which statement was the lie. Once everyone in the group has guessed, the person will reveal what was true and what was false. The person that answered correctly can go next. This game can go around as many times as you would like or so that everyone gets a chance to go once. You might learn some surprising things about your party guests!

    2. Charades

Most everyone knows the rules to this game, so little explaining will be necessary! For those that are unsure how to play, virtually Charades requires the player to mime or imitate a specific action or subject that the rest of the team has to figure out.  Direct your guest to a word generator for their word. Taking turns, each guest acts out the word from the generator as all other guests shout out their guesses. This tried, and true party game will be a favorite at your virtual celebration!

    3. Minute to Win It Challenges

Minute to Win It started as a game show where contestants had to complete a task using household items in less than a minute to move on. It is now becoming a simple but fun party game. As the host, come up with a list of challenges that can be completed with everyday household objects. It might be a good idea to send out a supply list for each guest before the party to help guests prepare. Also, to ensure that everyone can be included in the challenges. Frugal Fun 4 Boys is another great resource.

    Man Vs. Clock

In this version, one player will be trying to beat the clock for each challenge you created. They will have to complete that challenge within a minute. It's best for you to keep track of the time on your end. For this game, I recommend choosing a different person for each challenge. You could also divide your guests into teams.

MINUTE TO WIN IT FOR TEAMS

Split guests into teams.  For every game, choose one player from each team to go head to head. For example, one person from each team will be given the list of supplies and game instructions. When you say go, the first players to compete will start the challenge. The first team to complete the challenge receives a point.  The guest or team that accomplishes the most challenges wins! These games are fun, inexpensive, and typically hilarious!

    4. Thumper

This game will keep you on your toes and get your brain working! Each guest chooses a silly face or hand gesture as their "symbol." The host can choose to be the leader and start the game or pick a guest to lead. Make sure every guest shares their Symbol with the party. The leader then performs their Symbol, immediately followed by the Symbol of another player. This player then performs their own gesture, followed by another player’s gesture. Symbols continue to be passed from guest to guest until someone responds too slowly or misses their cue. To take this up a notch when someone makes a mistake, everyone must drink, and that person then becomes the leader for the next round.

    5. Most Likely To

This casual game is fun to play with a group of longtime friends. Take turns creating "Most likely to ________" statements and ask guests to cast their votes using the chat function on the video call. The person with the most votes can take a drink or do a dare. There are no winners or losers in this game, but should definitely be shared laughs! You can have guests download the Most Likely To app on the App Store, or come up with your own. Beware the app is 18+.

    6. Spin A Tale

This game promotes creativity and will have guests thinking on their feet. To start the game, make up the first line of a story. Then choose a guest to add a line to your sentence. Members take turns adding to the story until the whole plot develops! Let the story go along on its own route, that is what makes the game fun; you never know what each guest is going to add and where the story will end up.

Here are some ways you can start your tale…

    ·         Today I woke up at 8 a.m. and saw….

    ·         Sofia woke up on the couch this morning and tried to remember how she got there…

    ·         I was supposed to have a virtual meeting today, but…

    ·         When I looked outside my window, I saw…

    ·         Today during quarantine, I started discovered my hidden talent…

    7. Online Games

I'm sure you've heard of JackboxTV offering plenty of games to play online. However, besides Drawful2, most of the games have to be purchased to play them. Playingcards.io offers free card games that can be played virtually with your guests. They have also added an online version of Cards Against Humanity.

Fun Easter Party Ideas for 2021

Looking for easy and unique Easter party ideas? We've rounded up nine tips to make your Easter party fun without breaking the bank! Keep the kids busy this Easter while you celebrate with the grownups.

Looking for some fun and easy Easter party ideas? We've rounded up 9 unique easter party tips that will get your creative wheels turning! From DIY decorations to fun Easter activities, these are the best ways to celebrate Easter.

Fun and Unique Easter Party Ideas

      Virtual Easter Bunny Party

Grab your Bunny Ears and join us for our Interactive Easter Hippity Hoppity Eggstravaganza with the real Easter Bunny and BFF Chick-A-Dee! In this LIVE 20-minute virtual experience, the Easter Bunny and Chick-A-Dee will sing, read, dance, and perform to bring Easter Magic to your home! A non-scary way to see the Easter Bunny and it’s affordable - Price is per screen or device so anyone in your household can attend the Easter performance and make life long memories in the comfort of your home! Boom your visit here!

      Easter Centerpieces

Wow your guests with DIY low-cost centerpieces that even the Easter bunny is sure to love. Use carrots, Peeps, chocolate eggs or even the cheap plastic eggs to decorate. One idea we love is to use artificial grass strips and then sprinkle the eggs throughout.

Or, just fill a glass bowl with Easter candy for a super simple centerpiece.

      Easter Egg Cookie Decorating

What's an Easter party without awesome desserts? It's such a great activity for all ages! Much like many families bake and decorate cookies during the Christmas holidays, Easter egg cookies are just as fun! It keeps the little ones busy and also serves as a great parting gift. Easily whip up adorable egg-shaped cookies with this cookie cutter set.

      Easter Egg Basket Decorating

This is a great DIY project to keep kids busy while creating something unique that they can use! Baskets don’t need to be fancy or heavy duty (especially since most eggs are plastic with lightweight coins or candy inside).

You can use white paper bags and set up all the trimmings to decorate. Once again corral the kids and keep them busy, And it's an adorable keepsake for parents of an art craft created by their kids!

      Easter Egg Golden Ticket Game

Here's an Easter activity that's fun for both kids and adults! Fill one of the plastic eggs with a golden ticket and the child who finds it wins a prize. Have a special prize for kids (candy would be a popular choice!) or a nice bottle of wine for the adults to win.

Whoever finds the golden ticket wins the prize!

      Easter Egg Relay Race

We love this idea to reduce the frustration (and panic!) of not finding eggs in a big group of egg hunters! Instead of every man for himself, why not split the kids into teams (evenly matched of course) and have a member from each team search for an egg. Once they've found an egg, they come back and tag the next teammate — just like a traditional relay race!

The kids still have the fun of an Easter egg hunt, but less pressure!

      Toddler's First Easter Egg Hunt

I think we can all agree that a toddler's first Easter egg hunt is probably more for the parents than the kids! Because they're kind of clueless as to what they're supposed to do, parents usually end up leading the child to find the egg.

Here's a solution: if you have a younger kids, tie a balloon to the eggs so they little ones can have fun “hunting” and easily identify their target. They'll probably still think they're "balloon hunting", but they'll have a blast, and parents can get their Easter photo opps ;)

      Easter Egg Decorating

What would Easter be without some Easter egg decorating? Buy a kit to dye eggs, or (for a less messy option) let the kids hand decorate them with markers, stickers, and more! This inexpensive and festive activity will build memories for years!

Easter Themed Coloring Pages and Word Searches

A quiet way to corral the kids while you entertain is with Easter themed coloring pages and word searches. You can make a custom word search here! And there are plenty of free printable coloring page sites that you can find with a simple google search.  Here's one for Easter themed coloring pages.

Are you inspired to start planning your Easter party? These 9 fun and unique Easter party ideas are easy and won't break the bank--bonus: they'll keep the kids occupied and having fun!

        Labor Day Party Ideas

Plan Your Labor Day Party with Your All-In-One Free Party Planner | Free Party Website | #1 Party Planning Site For Birthday Party, Baby Shower, Bridal Shower, Holiday Party, Graduation Party or any Party or Celebration | Party Planning Tools, Party Planning Checklists, Budgets, DIY, Party Ideas and Inspiration, Party Food and Drink, Party Decorations and Best Party Planning Marketplace For The Hostess with the Mostess in all of us.

        Easy Labor Day Planning Ideas

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, this year is September 2nd, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. It is also the marker we make at the beginning of passing seasons from Summer to Fall coming upon us. Most of us get together with friends, enjoy the wonderful extended weekend and crank up our backyard grill for some the last summer BBQ Party or Pool Party. So let's get to planning a great Labor Day and celebrate with our friends and family and create memories with ones we love.

To celebrate these last few days of summer, start planning a Labor Day party for your friends, family, and neighbors. Follow these easy tips for planning a Labor Day party and ensure your final summer bash is a party to remember.

Step 1: Start Planning By Getting The Save The Date Out

LYFETYMES is a free place to plan any size party or get-together, not only can you plan all your parties; you can create a party website, and guests can enter their email to RSVP in one click. You will never use anything again.

Tip 2: Pick Labor Day Theme

Labor Day is about celebrating patriotism, and having a theme can help highlight all things American. Make sure to include the party theme in your LYFETYMES website so that your guests will coordinate. Here are some popular Labor Day party theme ideas:

        • White Party: In these modern times, we all wear white after Labor Day now. But before the modern day, you were not supposed to wear white after Labor Day. Some people believe that this rule applies primarily to white shoes and others believe that all white items are a faux pas after Labor Day. A white party is a great way to celebrate and have a fun theme that is tongue in cheek, ask your guests to dress in white and incorporate white into your decorations, food, and table settings.

        • Red, White, and Blue party: Hopefully you still have some July 4th decor leftover - Red, White, and Blue are famous for this holiday to show patriotism. You could have everyone to wear red, white, and blue. Use the theme in your decorations as well by having American flags, stars and stripes, and the colors (red, white, and blue) displayed throughout the party. The American flag makes the perfect backdrop for photos or food displays or centerpieces. Check out July 4th Blog here to get more of our country’s colors for inspiration

        • Pool Party- For some, this may be that lat swim of the summer. Have a Luau, Tropical or Flamingo themed party to kiss summer goodbye and let your friends and family cool down. Find some great ideas on LYFETYMES Pinterest page

        Step 3: Labor Day Decor

Wow your guests with this DIY project that will only take you 30 minutes to complete. Cut out star shapes from old cardboard and use red, white, and blue temporary spray paint that you can use on grass or sidewalk. Buy on Amazon https://amzn.to/2HrnH15here

        Festive Centerpiece

A Centerpiece is also a great way to display patriotic party favors. Mix different sizes of American flags and pinwheels in a bucket. It's a bright and colorful display, and the guests can use them during the celebration!

        Labor Day Streamer

Broad stripes and bright stars make easy decorations for a summer BBQ. Get your creative DIY juices flowing and make American flag-print bandannas. Just tie the ends together and string them from tree to tree or above the food table. You can use them with tablescapes and food displays. A bandanna runner adds rugged country charm -- and slips right off the next day.

Step 4: Creative Labor Day BBQ Menu Options

Your Labor Day Party menu should feature some pretty simple classics. Maximize your time outdoors by cooking almost everything on a grill. Buying all the ingredients for a party can be expensive and time-consuming.  Here are some ideas that we love for guests:

        •  "You Bring It, We Grill It” style potluck. Each guest brings their favorite grilling item or a side to share. Check out our summer bbq Pinterest board for ideas and inspiration!

        • Small Grill? No Problem- Have each guest bring their favorite famous outdoor family appetizer- people love to show off and share their secret recipes!

        • Bake OFF! Have everyone bring a Red-White-Blue dessert, it is fun and makes an instant Dessert Bar that is an Instagram worthy picture!

With these ideas, everyone saves a bit of money, feels like they have contributed, and ensures at least ONE dish that they will like and eat!

Let Guests Know What's on the DIY Menu

Let your guests know what’s on the menu! Paint a big piece of plywood with black chalkboard paint for a professional-looking board. Then write out a list out what you are serving. Remember that summer BBQ parties equal heat—It may be September, but It’s still hot! Keep the drinks chillin' with colorful balloon ice! It's so simple: fill colorful balloons halfway with water and freeze overnight. Toss them in the cooler to keep drinks cold and festive.

        Labor Day S’More Treats

Nothing says outdoor Labor Day Party like a S’ more station. It's easy, interactive, and fun experience and one less thing to worry about for your guests.

        Step 5: Just Have Fun

Here is to making memories and enjoying your family and friends. Please send us pictures of your party if you would like it featured on our social media feed at katie@lyfetymes.com.

        Party Like A Mother

Ideas for planning a ladies party or get together. Get great party ideas from the #1 party planning site at wwww.lyfetymes.com Your All-In-One free party planner.

        Mom, You Need to Party

We, as moms, think of parties as an obligation. Mostly kid-type events we attend that eats away at our weekends. Tit for tat, we must attend theirs, or they won't participate in yours. Some are more fun and meaningful like a friend or family members baby shower (we go for the Mimosa Bar). When you have kids, you become consumed by their events, but when was the last time you took time for you and your Girl Squad?

        Friends or Kriend?

What’s a kriend? It is what we call mom’s we meet through our kids. Sometimes we assume the parents in your kids' circle are your friends, because you see familiar faces at all the parties, sporting event, or class functions. But the truth is that is not the universe putting you together to really bond (if it happens excellent), that's the school pulling a name out of a hat.

It's so important to keep touch with those and more importantly connect with friends (if they are family, even better) on an ongoing basis. You deserve it, also seeing each other once a month is fine, you can keep up to date on day to day or week to week updates through social media.

Leave the mom guilt at the door, because you are the only one who can care for your mind, body, and soul and if that isn't a bit balanced and in check, then you can’t be your best for everyone else who are depending on you. Most importantly, it gives you something to look forward to that is just yours.

        Self Love Challenge

Let's challenge all the women we know: stay at home moms, work from home, corporate moms (work dinners three times a week with colleagues DO NOT COUNT), and mompreneurs. Let’s take a 3-month challenge, and get your squad together to meet. At the very least, do it once a month, put it on the schedule and treat it as doctor appointment, it’s immovable.

I promise after three months you will realize how much you not only need it, but enjoy it and look forward to it. Here are some fun ideas to get this challenge started for you and your squad.

        Watch Party

Watch parties are great to bring your squad together. No matter if it's an Oldie but Goodie Movie Night, Newly released PPV, Real Housewives Season Finale, Oscar Watch Party, or Little Big Lies we can always find something that we love to watch. We get we could be doing more productive things, but we somehow know it is the food for our soul and makes us all warm and fuzzy inside.

This isn't a sit-down dinner kind of dinner party. Depending on the length, have everyone bring an appetizer or take turns. Everyone gets to show off their favorite little culinary specialty, and the person hosting won't have to clean AND cook. Have one person bring a dessert. We love this showstopping 3-D Marilyn Monroe Cake. If you're in the Champaign, Illinois area contact her at carissa.thomas1972@gmail.com to have your fantastic cake at your next Movie Party.

        Ladies who Lunch/Brunch

Nothing is better than brunch. Keep in mind brunch is defined as between breakfast and lunch, a two-fer, two birds, one rock. Most associate it with Sunday, but it can really be any day of the week. From an outdoor place setting to dressing up and meeting up at a favorite restaurant, so you leave the cooking to someone else, it's a beautiful treat to know you can sneak away for a couple hours and relax. Let's also get "Linner" trending, combing Lunch and Dinner, you're welcome moms. Check out out favorite Brunch Ideas here.

        Tea party

This is a bit posh, but who doesn't love a summer dress, a nice cup of tea and delicious finger sandwiches? Coupled with a beautiful table setting, you can cover any topic, favorite book you are reading or favorite new life-saving app. If you want to kick it up a notch, try an Alice In Wonderland Theme to showcase your sense of humor. Get some inspiration for a great Tea Party here.

        Wine Tasting

Rose All Day Party. Get your Wine, cheese, crackers, fruit all equals a sexy charcuterie board. This is a great way to share new wines and pairings. Just make sure we are all responsible, and we have designated rides home. But let your hair down and have a good laugh with friends. Check out our favorite wine tasting parties here.

        CBD Party

A CBD Spa Party was Kim Kardashians last baby shower! Introduce your friends to the world of CBD topicals and spa product that are providing new relief and healing to millions. You can now find CBD in creams, shampoos, skincare and there is a ton science to back up its claim on how wonderful these oils and lotions are. Click here for the article cover Kim (yeah, because we are that close) Shower.

        Game & Appetizer Party

Nothing will get people out of their comfort zone and everyone smiling like playing games. It sounds cheeky, but we kind of long for it. I'm not talking Twister or Chess, but there are a ton of funny games to play that will crack the entire group up. One of our favorites is Heads Up, an Ellen favorite. Its an app, all you need is your phone, and you will laugh, guaranteed. Click here for other great ideas

        Farmers Market/Food Mall Field Trip

Food Malls and Indoor and Outdoor Farmers Markets are some of the best outing experiences with your squad. They are quaint; usually, you can find something fresh and new you want to try, fantastic ambiance, experience getting out and going somewhere. Most places have a place to grab a quick bit or eat along the way. All you have to do it google it and you will be surprised how many options you have. This is also a wonderful fall activity when it is a bit cooler and every mom welcomes backs jeans and riding boots.

        Now Go For It!

So now that you have some ideas, the question is, will you do it? Invest in yourself, just do it, no "thank you" required. You will feel immediately better and excited and looking forward to your next adventure.

        Here is what we know:

Blume Dolls as stated “grow” out of their flowerpot in around ten quick seconds.

Once Sprinkled, up comes one surprise doll with colorful foam-like hair (rainbow color, flowers, crystals embedded, and more).

The hair is soft, squishy, and foamy. You can remove the foam hair and clothes and mix-and-match with other dolls.

        • There are ten different surprises in each pot

        • Each doll also comes with her very own accessories: a pet, purse, watering can, etc.

        • Every doll comes with a miniature friend that’s a cute accessory with eyes.

        • Once your Blume doll “blooms,” the flower pot can be used as a play-set to stash and carry doll and accessories.

        The Official Blume Doll Checklist:

Blume Doll Types, Blume Doll Options, Blume Doll’s

There are 4 different varieties you can get (with their 22 names!)

        1. Mystical (Leilani is the one to get!)

        2. Super Rare (Skye, Gemma, Cleo, Kit)

        3. Rare (Lola, Poppy, Sierra, Cora, Roxy, Reese, Valerie)

        4. Adorable (Sedonna, Tess, May, Mandy, Nori, Alana, Tate, Celine, Cammie, Krystal)

Here is where Blume Dolls can be purchased on Amazon, I would buy in advance, since it’s being predicted as a craze!

        Unique Father's Day Gift Ideas

Looking for unique father’s day gifts? We’ve got you covered with some really cool father’s day gift ideas: from experiences to gadgets—dad won’t be disappointed this Father’s Day!

Father’s Day is around the corner: do you have your gift planned yet? If you said yes and it involves a tie set, please read this post. A tie is the equivalent of a vacuum cleaner for her for mother’s day! Since we came up with some unique ideas for mother’s day, we thought we’d round up some ideas for the dads we want to celebrate.

        Unique Father's Day Gifts

        A Subscription Box...for Dudes

Women have cornered the market on subscription boxes for years and now men can have some fun, too.  Bespoke Post boxes are $45 a month and come packed with tried, tested, and unique "gear" that most men would appreciate.

        image: Bespoke

Plus, you can preview your box and decide if you want to skip it until next month, or let it ride.

The Man Crate offers a lot of cool gift boxes at various price points. It's not a subscription service, but it could be if you purchase your guy a gift card and let him choose what he wants when he wants. They offer more variety than Bespoke Post.

Other subscription box ideas to make him look and cool on Father's day include: Birchbox for MenMen's HealthButcher BoxTaster's Club, and Try the World.

        Air Compressor

Who knew there were so many uses for an air compressor: filling your car tires, filling up pool toys, filling up bouncy balls, blowing air out of filters, cleaning dining room chairs, etc.  The list goes on!

        image: Home Depot

Plus, they’re fun to use. Basically: every man would appreciate an air compressor for the Father’s Day—and it’s definitely unique!

        Laser Distance Measurer

        image: Home Depot

Forget a fancy tape measurer, give him this unique pocket room distance measuring tool from Bosch. No more frustrating bent tape measuring experiences for him: this cool distancing measuring tool will definitely be appreciated.

        Activity Specific Sports Glasses

Oakley has some unique options if your father or husband is cool enough to still do sports. Or maybe they just like the look of cool sunglasses

        image: Oakley

Does your husband or father run, play golf, or ski?  These sports glasses from Oakley will be life-changing. Lightweight, customizable, and durable, these sunglasses are definitely unique and would make father’s day epic!

A gift card makes the most sense in this case--especially since you can customize colors and specs to each person's needs.  Let them go into an Oakley store and create their masterpiece.

        Race Car Driving Experience

Porsche offers three locations around the country to experience driving a Porsche on a race track--to really see what one can do :)  Now that's a unique Father's Day gift!

Xtreme Xperience has a tour around the country's various race tracks where you can drive "exotic cars" like a race car driving pro. We’ve heard this is an amazing experience!

        Poker Chip Set

Who doesn't love to play poker? Having nice chips and a carrying case elevates the whole game.

        image: Amazon

This is a quality set from Amazon that will last for years of his adult poker nights or family game nights.

        Noise Cancelling Headphones

Noise cancelling headphones have come a long way in the style category and would make any dad happy this father’s day.

Regardless of how you think they look, noise canceling headphones provides a better experience for everyone. You can't go wrong with a set like these from Sony. Of course there are endless options these day, s maybe a gift card would be best. Treat the dad in your life with this unique father’s day gift!

        Laser Golf Range Finder

        image: Amazon

If your father or husband plays golf, we’re betting this gem has been on his wish list for a while. A laser golf range finder can elevate their golf game and make the experience so much more fun! Plus, a gadget like this might feel frivolous for them to buy it for themselves, so if you buy it there is no guilt! Unique AND useful for father’s day=win/win.

        Woodworking Gift Card/Class

Here’s another experience versus gift for father’s day: a chance to learn from the pros and build something from wood with your hands.

Woodcraft has lots of locations and offers classes that range in skill level from complete beginner to advanced professional. You have to search by location to see what's in your area, but we’ve heard these are worth every penny. And when a man gets to work with his hands to create something unique?  That experience is sure to make them feel like a “man's man.”  Be sure to check out https://happydiyhome.com/wood-carving-tools/ so you and dad can get started on your next wood carving project and learn more about the tools and techniques.

Other Unique Father's Day Gift Ideas

        1.  Gift certificate for two rounds of golf at a nicer golf course so he and his buddy can play a round and have lunch afterwards.

        2.  Tickets to a local show of a band or artist he loves.

        3.  Personalized something--watch box, charging station, key ring, luggage tag.

        4.  Nice luggage.  Tumi is a high quality choice: This Tumi bag is a workhorse and it can be personalized.

We hope you’re inspired to find a unique father’s day gift for the dad you are celebrating this year! Go beyond a tie and cufflink set and make his YEAR!

An Open Letter to Dad's on Mother's Day

Dads: Mother's Day is the one day when she gets to be guiltlessly pampered! We've got you covered with ideas for every age group so you don't screw it up.

        Dear Dads,

I'm not going to sugar coat this, I'm giving it to you straight.

First, get your head around why Mother's Day is such a big deal. I'm here to help you not screw this up. This day means a lot to moms!

Your performance on Mother's Day could dictate the temperature of the next 364 days in your life or whether she's going to go the extra mile for you and with what kind of attitude it will be done.

It’s a mom Christmas. It’s a mom Super bowl. Your efforts this day alone will tell her how great of a mom you think she is. That’s how moms measure themselves.

So set the stage; it's her special day, it’s the ONE day to celebrate her. To say THANK YOU for all crap that she's tolerated all year....capiche?

Important Note: You are also dealing with social media, wherein the past nobody knew how moms were being celebrated.

        Those days are over.

All day, Mom’s everywhere will compare with other moms on Instagram and Facebook showing off their “Mother’s Day” appreciation pictures.

The easiest road to happy is to simply ask her what she wants! Moms who don’t want to risk getting another smelly soap, lotion, or candle will flat out tell you what they want if you ask.

However, some (most?) will say “Oh nothing, don’t worry about it.”

THEY ARE LYING. Yeah, I called your momma a LIAR. It is a trap.

So here's how to avoid that trap--I'm laying it all out there for you in this post: broken down by the age group your kids fall into.

        You're welcome.

        Signed, Katie (Lyfetymes founder)

P.S. Lingerie is not a present. That’s a gift for you, not her.

Mother's Day Celebration Ideas by Age Group

Mommy’s First Mother’s Day or Little Ones

OK, this is your big chance. Not only is it the first of many to come, but there is also no precedent, all the while you are setting the precedence for the future! (no pressure haha)

Be practical but be thoughtful, above all else. A few things to consider so you don’t wind up sleeping on the lawn:

        1) It’s been a long year covered in baby’s first moments, baby vomit, pulling all-nighters, baby poop, post-partum, a recovering body, etc. Your effort should be to impossibly try to do something representative of that. Not just a card, but with that said, DO NOT FORGET A CARD.

        2) Do something to pamper her: send her to get her hair done or to the spa for a mani and pedi spa: both safe bets (and much appreciated!).

If you don’t have a ton of cash don’t worry, you can do things that cost zero money; make her breakfast, clean the house (yes, this includes the toilets), cook a BBQ or pick up dinner, change the baby all day, or let her lay in bed and watch Netflix all day.

        3) Make or Buy something personalized, framed picture of mom and baby, or the family, something engraved, anything that can is a keepsake. Check out our list of handmade and personalized mother's day gift ideas here!

Your little ones are still sweet, and almost everything they do is perfect- they also can’t do anything for themselves so the only one to mess this party up is YOU.

        Preschool/Elementary Age

Thank god for Teachers. They usually help Dads out by having the macaroni necklace, or hand painted craft being worked weeks in advance in class and ready the big day.

It's brilliant because Moms love anything their little ones craft (no matter how ugly it is!), timestamped with their little one's creative hands. But that should not be your fallback or your only plan.

        1) My best advice is to email your kid's teacher and find out what they're planning. Not all teachers do this, and if they don’t, then you should get a DIY kit from Target so that the kids can make something fun at home and a homemade card.

        2) Have the kids help pick out a gift, and it can be hilarious to have the kids explain why they think the most grotesque slippers in the world should belong to their mother.

        3) Do not plan something that will require mom to do the work (If you cook, clean up your mess) or stress them out. What may seem like fun to you, might inadvertently require her to work to make it happen; so if you want a picnic in the park, you better be packing that basket and make sure she doesn’t lift a finger!

        4) We all love it when the family busts through the day and shouts “Happy Mother’s Day” with gifts and cards in hand, even better with coffee and breakfast. So get in the spirit and make a big deal about it.

        Teenagers or College Kids

For this you can refer back to the baby stage because kids this age (no matter how great they seem) are into themselves. They can’t remember what day of the week it is, let alone Mother’s Day, and stupidly we expect the most unappreciative age group to pull themselves together and produce a miracle of thanks on this day?

So, Dad, you will need to ensure that everything is in order because I can promise you, moms at this age are tired, older, know who they are, and don’t want to `wait THREE freaking hours for a table at the Cheesecake Factory.

My best advice is the 1-2-3 combo:

        1) No matter what: hit it early, hit it hard and hit it fast: take her coffee and breakfast, kids at home should get their butts up and come in with the card, gift, hug, kiss-ready.

Kids away at college or not at home should be placing a call or even better a video call in the morning and not at 3 in the afternoon like an afterthought or halfway through the day.

        2) Get her out of the house for either a day of pampering or a prearranged movie date with her girlfriend’s and their moms. Going out to restaurants on Mother’s Day can be insanely busy, and time is Mom’s currency, so think ahead and make reservations.

        3) Cooking and Cleaning- no matter if you are ordering, cooking or organizing a “Mother’s Day BBQ” with all your friends and family, do something that will give her a break and not require her to clean up your “gift.”

        Adult Children

It’s easy. Moms want to see or hear from kids who have grown and flown. If you are close make yourself available even if you have kids of your own. If you’re not close, make sure you send a card, or a gift and call at the very least (a text is not cool!).

Bottom Line of it all: It’s not about money or gifts, it’s about THE EFFORT.

Last note, please don’t just sign your name on the card.

I know YOU think Hallmark has built an empire of skillful poets that articulate what you want to say, but we have watched you pick out cards, and the effort put into it, so do more than “HMD! Love, Dad.”

So there you have it: an open letter to dads (with helpful suggestions for making this Mother's Day ROCK for the moms in your life) on Mother's Day.

        9 Fun Easter Party Ideas!

        Bunny Ear Party Hats

This activity will help keep the kids busy because they will have plenty of extra energy thanks to the Easter Bunny that day. Making them from scratch with construction paper and tape, kids can create and decorate while the grown-ups enjoy a delicious meal or dessert.  Kiddos will love wearing their handmade cute party hats, or you can purchase plush bunny ears--kids AND adults will get in on the fun!  Here's a cool pair here.
